Version control is a skill every developer, data analyst and web professional is expected to have. This course teaches Git properly, with no experience needed. Twelve lessons take you from what Git is and how it thinks (the working folder, the staging area and the repository) through the everyday loop of status, add, commit and log; diffs, good commit messages and .gitignore; undoing mistakes with restore, amend, reset, revert and stash; branches, merging and resolving conflicts; connecting to GitHub with push, pull and clone; pull requests and code review; issues, project files and keeping secrets safe; GitHub Pages and GitHub Actions; and turning your profile into a portfolio. In every lesson you type real Git commands in a practice terminal inside the page, edit files beside it, and your repository is checked when you finish. You also practise a full day on a team: an urgent bug, a conflict with a teammate and a tagged release. Each module has a check and a badge.
